Rules for Travelling to Uganda During Covid 2022

Updated: Feb 5, 2022

Like most countries, Uganda has put in place certain requirements to be able to visit the country, and certain restrictions are in place whilst travelling around. In this article, I hope to make the rules easily understandable.

  • Upon arriving at Entebbe International Airport, you must take a covid test and you must register and pay for the test prior to arrival using this link. The test cost $30 and you will usually get your results within 4 hours, so it makes sense to wait in Entebbe for this time before travelling around.

  • You must take a further PCR test at most 72 hours before leaving the country. There are numerous places this can be done, and we can advise you on which one fits best with your itinerary.

  • In safari vehicles, you should not use the passenger seat next to the driver, you should wear masks and be separated by 1.5m where possible. There is no longer a limit to the number of people allowed in a vehicle. We can recommend a safari vehicle that complies with the regulations and meets your needs.

  • Gorilla tracking is also now allowed but again there are certain restrictions like you must keep your distance from the gorillas, but it remains an amazing experience.

  • Yellow fever vaccinations and 6 months validity on your passport are still required to gain your VISA, but that has been the case for many years.

In summary, it is very easy to visit Uganda as a tourist now and restrictions are getting looser all the time. Get in touch for the latest information and to start designing your dream safari.
