Akagera National Park

 

Overview:

 

Akagera is Rwanda's only savannah national park, boasting a wide variety of big game. It is exciting times for Akagera, with lions reintroduced in 2014 and the planned reintroduction of rhino, the park will be home to all of the ‘big 5’. A visit to Akagera is also a welcome change from the lush cultivated hillsides of western Rwanda.

Location:

 

Located in the east of Rwanda, bordering Tanzania, Akagera is around a 2 to 3-hour drive from the capital Kigali.

 

Accommodation:

 

This park still being in its infancy in terms of tourism, there is only a couple of lodges to choose from.
