At East African Discovery, our mission is to make tailor made safaris affordable. We do that with our price promise, delivering high quality tours at an unbeatable price. We create a safari from scratch, for each individual client, designed specifically around their interests and budget. There is no set start dates, length of safari or route that has to be followed. We learn as much as we can about our clients, and then use our expert knowledge and contacts to design and deliver a truly once in a lifetime trip, that will never be forgotten!
Meet the Team
EAD was founded by a Brit (Ben Tinsley) and a Ugandan (Magezi Richard). Ben had spent years travelling and volunteering throughout Africa, before meeting Richard in 2013 whilst volunteering in Uganda, where Richard was managing a luxury lodge close to where Ben was volunteering.
Richard had been working in the tourism industry in Uganda and Rwanda for 16 years prior to the meeting, and in that time gained an unbelievable amount of knowledge and contacts in the tourism industry in East Africa.
Ben and Richard became instant friends, and shared similar ideas about how eco-tourism was the key to wildlife conservation in Africa. After spending a couple of months getting to know one another, they decided that there was a gap in the market for a tour operator that was centered around eco-tourism, providing a high quality service at a reasonable price. And so, East African Discovery was born.
When you get in touch with EAD, it will most likely be Ben that you speak to, and he will use his expert knowledge to design a dream safari just for you. Once your itinerary is complete and you are happy with it, Richard takes over, using his unique skill-set to manage the delivery of your safari, and he may even join you and your guide for a few days of your trip to ensure it is exceeding your expectations.
This is an exciting time for EAD, we already have some excellent reviews and we are growing fast, with plans to expand into the rest of East Africa in the not so distant future. Watch this space!
